Upcoming: St. Patrick's Celebration 2018

On March 17, the Irish Society will hold a dinner to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with entertainment after. Location is at the Clarion.  Tickets can be purchased from Drew Mills, Norm Finlay and Eileen Douglas.

Past: 15th Annual Winter Festival:

The Westman Multicultural Festival was held on February 1, 2, 3 in 2018 at The Clarion.  Thanks to all the entertainers, volunteers and staff at the Clarion for the many contributions of time and effort.

 
Past: BBQ September 9, 2017:

The annual BBQ for the Irish Society of Western Manitoba was held on September 9, 2017 at Drew and Lynn's place.   Weather and food were very good and entertainment was provided by Marcel Hapel who brought his banjo and fiddle. 


Past:  27th Anniversary of the Society's St. Patrick's Celebration

On March 18, the Irish Society of Western Manitoba celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with supper and entertainment at The Clarion.

We were entertained by the McConnell School of Dance, Winnipeg and Brandon Divisions. David Naylor played piano before and during supper and Caitlin Baker and Larry Roulette provided fiddle and guitar music.

Thank you to all the volunteers who gave there time and to the staff at the hotel that made this event possible.

Past:  14th Annual Winter Festival

The Winter Festival had a new name this year but the warm welcome at the Irish Pavilion was the same as it has been in the past.  Thanks to everyone that attended, entertained and volunteered.  We hope to see you at our pavilion next year.

Past: BBQ, September 10, 2016

The annual BBQ was hosted at the Mills Residence with approximately 65 in attendance. The beef and company were excellent!

Thanks to our entertainers:  Genista Buhler (fiddle) from Brandon, Becky Nikolaisen (vocal and piano) and Jerrold Nikolaisen (vocal and guitar) of Carberry. Thank you to all who volunteered with the preparations and to our hosts.


Past:  Annual General Meeting

Our Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 4:30 pm at Remington’s Seafood and Steakhouse located in the Town Centre, 800 Rosser Avenue, Brandon MB.


Past:  25th Anniversary of the Society's St. Patrick Celebration

In celebration of The Irish Society of Western Manitoba's 25th Anniversary, we are holding our second "Trip to Ireland Raffle".  First Prize is a trip for two to Ireland including round trip air travel from Winnipeg MB to Dublin, Ireland.  The First Prize Winner(s) may chose $5,000.00 cash instead of the trip.  The Second Prize if $1,000.00 cash.

The draws will take place on March 14, 2015 at 10:00 pm at the Royal Oak Inn and Suites, 3130 Victoria Avenue, Brandon MB.

Profits from our 2015 Trip to Ireland Raffle will be donated to the Canadian Diabetes Association's D-Camps Program, "where kids with diabetes can simply be kids".  D-Camps helps children living with Type 1 Diabetes indulge their sense of fun and adventure in a diabetes-friendly environment.

Tickets are $10.00 each and are available at The Canadian Diabetes Association office located in the Town Centre, Brandon MB, McPhail Travel at   Unit K - 435 Rosser Avenue, Brandon MB and from various Irish Society Members.  Raffle License #LGA 5634 RF.

Past:  Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Irish Society of Western Manitoba was held on April 5, 2014 at 4:30 pm at The Dock on Princess, 1133 Princess Avenue, Brandon MB.   After the meeting is over, many members stayed for a meal (at the member's expense).

A gift was presented to John Arrell, who has retired from his positions of Vice-President and Treasurer of the Society.


Past:  24th Annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration

Our 24th Annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration was held at the Royal Oak Inn and Suites, Brandon MB on March 15, 2014.  

The McConnell School of Dance, Tom McDermott and The Barefoot Ceili Band entertained us for this event.  The Winnipeg dance troupe was joined by local dancers from the Brandon dance class.  There were 22 local dancers this year.

This event was a success due to the support from many local sponsors and the people who attended. 


Past:  11th Annual Lieutenant Governor's Winter Festival

Another successful year for the Irish Pavilion.  Even with cold weather, attendance was up from last year.  Thanks to everyone that attended, entertained and volunteered.  We hope to see you at our pavillion next year for the 12th anniversary of the Lieutenant Governor's Winter Festival! 


Past:  Transna na dTonnta - Over the Waves

The McConnell School of Dance, Tom McDermott, Katrusia Manning and the Barefoot Ceili Band gave a performance at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.

Act 1 was Irish Tradition "The Best of irish Music, Song and Dance followed by Act 2 Trasna na dTonnta "Over the Waves" telling the story of Irish emigration to North America.

There were 278 people in attendance.

Past:  23rd Annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration

The 23rd Annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration was held at the Royal Oak Inn & Suites, Brandon Manitoba, on March 16, 2013.

Music was provided by Ard-Ri and there were Irish dancers from the McConnell School of Dance.  Again, the Winnipeg dance troupe was joined by local dancers from the Brandon dance class.  There were 19 local dancers this year.

This event was a success due to the support from many local sponsors. 


Past:  10th Anniversary of the Lieutenant Governor’s Winter Festival

Another successful year for the Irish Pavilion.  Attendance was down a bit due to cold weather on Thursday and Friday nights.

Thanks to everyone that attended, entertained and volunteered.  We hope to see you at our pavilion next year for the 11th anniversary of the Lieutenant Governor's Winter Festival!

In celebration of 10th anniversary of the Winter Festival, the Irish Society of Western Manitoba held a Trip to Ireland Raffle. Profits from this raffle of $8,138.50 were donated to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation’s Murray House Project.

Past:  Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Irish Society of Western Manitoba was held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Clancy's Eatery & Drinkery, 1133 Princess Ave, Brandon Manitoba at 4:00 pm.   After the meeting was over, many of us stayed for a meal at Clancy's.  Thanks to Betina and Corey Roberts for providing the meeting room for this event and our board meetings throughout the year!

Past:  St. Patrick's Day Celebration

The 22nd Annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration was held at the Royal Oak Inn & Suites, Brandon Manitoba, on March 17, 2012.  Music was provided by Milliken Maguire and there were Irish dancers from the McConnell School of Dance.  This year the Winnipeg dance troupe was joined by local dancers from the recently created Brandon dance class.

Past:  Newspaper Interview with Richard McIntyre, Past President

On March 17, 2012 an article about our Past President, Richard McIntyre was in The Brandon Sun.  Diane Neilson inteviewed Richard and his photo was taken by Colin Corneau.

Past:  A Taste of Ireland!

"A Taste of Ireland" was held on March 14, 2012 from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm at the Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts, Assiniboine Community College, North Hill Campus. 

Past:  Irish Pavilion at the 9th Annual Lieutenant Governor's Winter Festival

Another successful year for the Irish Pavilion.  Attendance was up approximately 500 people from last year.  Thanks to everyone that attended, entertained and volunteered.  We hope to see you at our pavillion next year for the 10th anniversary of the Lieutenant Governor's Winter Festival!
